Blueprints to Fix Critical Gaps in the Payment Experience
Reusable UI libraries allow non-designers to focus on problems experienced by over 2.1 million visitors
Water Corp
Perth, Western Australia – January 2019
Water Corporation is the principal supplier of water, wastewater, and drainage services in Western Australia, serving over 2 million residents across the state.

Water Corp's vision for customers in the future is to... "Appreciate having to spend hardly any effort or time managing my account & water doing simple administrative account tasks"
Business Problem
A gap in functionality on the website for direct debit bill payment needed to be resolved for customers who wanted the added choice of the credit card payment method over the only current option of the bank account payment method.

Once “blue prints” of the major user flows for setting up payment methods were complete, rapid prototypes were built to facilitate moderated, in-person usability testing with customers. Customer feedback from testing was used to iterate the user interface and address any user pain points prior to development and launch.
Reusable Components
"Blueprints"
A simple library of the websites' reusable components (Atomic design) built in Adobe XD allowed the design team to work quickly and give stakeholders and the dev team a clear picture of the effort required, including the risks and constraints in building the direct debit payment functionality.
Visual Design
Comprehensive Design System
Visual design was applied at the end of the process to not only illustrate how the brand essence of ‘sustaining WA’s growth and vitality’ is brought to life but to also comply with WC3 accessibility standards.
